Kathleen D. Kapla assists wind, solar, and bioenergy developers build, operate, buy, and sell renewable energy projects.
As an attorney to some of the world's largest renewable energy developers, she helps her clients draft, negotiate, and execute real property contracts,
asset purchase and sale agreements, membership interest purchase agreements, and other contracts relating to the development, operation, and sale of
renewable energy projects.
In addition, when renewable energy companies look to merge or acquire projects, Kathleen Kapla conducts title and survey reviews and analyses; provides due diligence investigations relating to title and real estate as well as environmental and permitting matters; and supports foreign entities in compliance with the Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act of 1978, 7 U.S.C. Secs. 3501-3508 (AFIDA) and state statutes relating to foreign interests in agricultural lands. In addition to Kapla Law PLLC, Ms. Kapla is of counsel with the California-based law firm of Keyes, Fox & Wiedman LLP, which focuses on distributed generation solar power regulation, policy, compliance, and project transactions.
Before opening her own practice, Kathleen was an attorney at the law firm of Stoel Rives LLP in the firm's Seattle and Portland offices. Kathleen is a frequent speaker and writer on renewable energy real property and title topics.
